Make PocketIE a full IE 6.0
This will let your pocket internet explorer look like a normal desktop Internet Explorer 6.0
This can help you access sites that require a certain internet explorer version.
1) Open a registry editor
2) Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\User Agent\
3) Change the default value to "Mozilla/4.0".
4) Change the "Version" value to "MSIE 6.0".
5) Change the "Platform" value to "Windows NT 5.0".
6) Soft-reset.

trying this on PPC mobile 5 gives me an: "Error Setting Value" Unspecified error.
the tree goes to ....internet settings - 5.0 - user agent
Works great on the PPC6700. I can get Aol and many others now!
Just wanted to say WOW!
just curious if this make it an html browser rather than a WAP browser?
pocket IE is a html browser from default, not a wap browser. Some websites perform checks on the internet explorer version to redirect you to a special (f.e. smaller) version of the site. Using this tweak, the websites that perform this check think that you have a normal IE version so they wont redirect you. There is no change in functionality on your side.
Websites can still redirect you by looking at your screen resolution for example but this one is most used by webmasters to determine if visitors are using pda or not.
this dosen't work on win 5.0
I have a mitac mio a701 running WM 5. Works great for me so far.
Can you tell me HOW to get to the REGISTRY to make the edits on the Verizon XV6700 Pocket Pc? THANKS ALOT. Rick
RICK,
verizon xv7600 pocket pc phone
download the phm registry editor to your pc
http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
the phm registry should now be in your c:\program files\phm\phm registry editor
COPY FILE regedit.Mrln_ARM to your mobile device
on your handheld then open file explorer and double click on regedit.Mrln_ARM.
this will install and launch the registry editor.
you may delete the file regedit.Mrln_ARM
you may also remove the editor from your pc. to open regedit go to file explorer, click on PHM TOOLS then double click regedit.

For WM5 the registry entry requires the changes in \5.0 in front of \User Agent, i.e. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\.
Can you send me the instructions for Windows Mobile 5, messaged@gmail.com

Don't do it if you use exchange through a browser. It will not work properly.
I have a sprint ppc 6700. This tweak prevents my browser to enable cookies. Thus, I cannot even read my sprint picture mail. Is there any way to remedy this?
