Seems to work ok and with a little increase in speed on my Ipaq 2415. Anything helps as WM5 upgrade had made it somewhat sluggish.

I used "Disable menu animation" on my T-Mobile MDA and noticed a huge difference! Has anyone tried this Cache trick with the MDA yet?

Beware: the default setting of "0" lets the OS choose how much cache to use... If you set it to say 4096 it will force your system to run with 4MB cache which boosts proformance for going through menu's email, word, etc... but if you try and run something like GeoRally (VGA game for dell axim) which takes more then 4MB cache to run right your game crashs and makes the system run like crap until its soft reset. Because of this I put mine back to 0... if your just using your ppc for email, solitare, word, excel... the tweak will definitley be a plus... but if u want to run demanding apps like quake, georally, etc. I'd leave it be. On a side note I do believe part of the speed enhancement (besides more cache) is your OS doesn't have to worry about checking on and changing the cache size with this tweak which saves resources as well.

Worked great on my hx 4705. The upgrade reaallly slowed this puppy down but this hack took it back to normal.

Does PHM Registry editor runs on Windows Mobile 5.0? I installed it i-mate Jasjar but I can't find the program. In fact, it's not listed if I go to Add/Remove Programs in ActiveSync 4.1. Any idea. WM5 on Jasjar is very sluggish. TIA.

I had the same problem installing PHM. Look in the Program Files directory on your PC where you installed PHM. The setup.exe would not work for me but I copied the proper CAB file for my IPAQ over manually and then ran it on my PPC via the file explorer.

I had the same problem with that program but i use regedit.Mrln now and works wel.

Do I need to add a space and a * after the 4096?

Hey guys by mistake i deleted the "ReplStoreCacheSize" key from HKLM\System\StorageManager\Filters\fsreplxfilt] For some reason it was showing twice so i deleted one and now there's none there... If I was to re-add it, do i create a String Value or DWORD value? Thanks in advance!

This is the best tweak ever. It solves the problem of the windows slider which is not available in wm5 to balance between the memory allocated for programs versus the memory allocated for storage. I raised the values even more than 4 MB and the performance just got better. I tried opening all the programs on my ppc simulataneously, and it did not slow down ! This is the best. Thanks

someone above said that at 4mb it wudnt run games properlky, is 8mb enough for games then?? like quake, etc. whats the most a program will use?

This hack stopped my dopod d810 (trinity) from booting past the splash screen, had to hard-reset to regain control. don't know if it is a trinity dependand problem or not

After changing the Value data and click on "Done" I have the error of "Unable to perform this operation". I use WM5 (BS 5.1.195) on VDA II (HTC Tornado) Smartphone! I tried because of the bothering "low data storage" popup. For editing I use the PHM RegEditor V 0.70 for Smartphone.
