Speed Up your Pocket PC
This tweak might help improving visual performance of your pocket pc:
1. Open your registry editor on your Pocket PC
2. Navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\GDI\GLYPHCACHE\
3. Change the value of 'limit' from 8192 to 32768
4. Close registry editor and soft reset.

fuck my ppc crashhh and now it is unuseable!! what can i do now?when i turn it on it is so slowly and i cant start any program to resolve the problem
try opening your registry editor and changing the values back. Try installing a program called "safemode". If this doesnt work, backup everything with active sync and perform a hard reset
I could not recognize any improvement.

I changed it on my O2 xda atom using TRE but after the soft reset it came back to the default value of 8192. Is there some kind of default restore happening at every soft restart. Can someone guide me

It makes your cache bigger = reserves more memory for cache.

After installation you should have a 'registry editor' or 'phm registry editor' entry under 'programs'. If not try locating the files using file explorer.

I had the same problem installing PHM. Look in the Program Files directory on your PC where you installed PHM. The setup.exe would not work for me but I copied the proper CAB file for my IPAQ over manually and then ran it on my PPC via the file explorer.
I had the same problem with that program but i use regedit.Mrln now and works wel.
My Xda II had it for default. :)

Default on the Qtek 2020i was 8192, works fine on 32768, changed using TRE registry editor. (this is 2000 hex to 8000 hex).
This tip works also with hw6515 - it seems to be faster with Contacts specially with high capicity of data. About the rest aplication I'm not really sure is it faster then before...

this tweak expands the cache from 8mb to 32 mb
however you have to make sure that youve left of empty space on you ppc to do this tweak.

Got one Mio A701 and WM5 an works great
Works very well, but for the first 7-9 seconds or so of music, it sort of fast forwards it and makes it choppy...should I lower the value to solve this?
